The Saga of Jake Reynolds & The Daniels Family – THE PREFACE: It is present day in Denver, Colorado. J.D. is the lead singer in a local country band “Back Road Blue”. His father has recently passed away and the family has decided to sell the home place to a local realtor who has scheduled demolition for the house in the next few days. J.D. decides to visit his childhood home one more time. The property is located several hours northwest of Denver. The trip is one of melancholy. As he wanders through the deserted house he discovers 2 leather bound journals hidden away in the corner of the basement. Both journals are written by a man named Jake Reynolds. One of the journals tells the story of a wagon train traveling from Wheeling Virginia to Sacramento California in 1860 and the other is a songbook filled with songs written by Jake Reynolds. J.D. can’t believe his luck in finding such a treasure and quickly returns to his home in Denver and the next day begins reading about Jake Reynolds and his adventures with the Daniels family.
